Pinup art is alive and it’s online!

As an artist, I’m part of the online community for artists, called DevintART. As I said on Sunday, it’s really important for us artists to support each other. So here are some of my friends, who create incredible pinup art, from classic cheesecake, to neo pinup Goth, to meta-pinups.

Asaru-75 for Diversity

Asaru-75 is all about color and strength. He presents a few different female characters of different ethnicity, but this African pinup is by far the most appealing. As a modern woman, this is a character I can relate to; She’s sexy and tough with a badass attitude, and it’s pretty obvious she’s on a mission.
Check out Asaru-75’s gallery at DeviantART!

#38 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Gabby's Bombshell Beauty

Being an artist, I know how hard it is getting your name out there. There’s always the dream of making your art, your primary income. So I think it’s important we stand by each other. For your viewing pleasure, this is a retro greeting card created by Gabriela Arriaza, a card maker/ addicted stamper. She creates with a tint of retro and I love it. This new piece, Bombshell Beauty, is my favorite, I think it fantastically captures the naivete of the atomic age.

Vintage Naughty Novels. We buy them for the cover and... well that’s pretty much it. Naughty Novels is a small site dedicated to this bizzar genre of... eh... literature. With it’s simple picture+quote structure, the site captures what you really want, when you buy a vintage naughty novel: The picture and a bit of that silly, 1950’s raunch:

They called her a "tramp" - but there wasn't a man in the small fishing village whom luscious Brenda Seton couldn't hook - if she wanted that kind of love. But passion for a profit was the goal of the gorgeous temptress. When ready cash was flashed, Brenda was ready, willing - and able - to please, until she found that love can be priceless!

Manga and Anime Pinups - More than Big Tits and Big Eyes

Manga and Anime is ripe with unaware good girls and deliberately sultry bad women. This is a short salute to my personal favorite artists and characters.

Manga (‘comics’ in Japanese) and Anime (‘animation’ in Japanese) are not just “those cute girls with big tits and big eyes” (as demonstrated to the left). Although there’s a lot of that, and the Japanese are known to let go of all sexual inhibition, when it comes to their illustrated entertainment. I believe Manga and anime are a fine art, with many styles and agendas. After all, you wouldn’t say all Western comics are about super heroes, would you? Winking

#36 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: My Grandfather's Girls

One of the benefits of having friends online, is that they send you tons of stuff you’d probably like. This vintage photography collection, whimsically called My Grandfather's Girls, is beautifully wrapped in flash design and was actually sent to me by a few friends. So I figured it was high time I shared it with you, my beloved readers. Hope you enjoy this historic little online treasure. Happy
