The internet is an
incredible place for diversity. The
beautiful
Persephonii, a LiveJournal blogger, took
her shot at pinup posing and came out a
gorgeous African American, BBW cheesecake,
for one shot.

Women have often shown up in
revolutionary images. What is a woman’s role
in the revolution? Today The Pinup Blog
explores revolutionary pinups!
Visual art has always had the ability to
concretely represent abstract concepts, while
still leaving room for debate. Revolution is
one of those abstract concepts.
Interestingly, women have been one theme
utilized in order to interpret the many faces
of the concept of revolution. Today, we take
a look at the different female
representations of revolutions.

One of my favorite days is coming up,
this week and I’d like to celebrate The Pinup
Blog way. Happy Earth Day
everybody! Every so often I
hear the nonsensical and chauvinistic
claim that female environmental
activists are “grimy”, “dreadlocked” and
“hairy”. While I argue that dreadlocks
are lovely and can be just as kept as
any other hairstyle, I also argue that
leg shaving is my last pitfall as a
feminist and I seriously hope, to one
day, get over the need to moderate my
body in order to be “socially
acceptable”. “Grimy”… well, see how you
look after 2 years up a tree Today’s ladies are
gorgeous, inventive and environmentally
conscientious, and some are willing to
sacrifice a lot for their cause. Proving
( yet
again) that green is sexy.

The inspiring burlesque
artist, Tiara
the Merch Girl, is also a prolific
writer on issues of race in the world of
burlesque, at Racialicious ( “a
[fantastic] blog about the intersection of
race and pop culture” ). I was ecstatic to
find The Pinup Blog mentioned in her
article,
Who’s a Pretty Burlesque Princess
Now. The article asks
significant questions about the diversity of
burlesque and its importance as an art-form
and innovator. Take a few minutes off for
some burlesqu-shop-talk, to read this
phenomenal post.

What’s the fierce attraction to Hamish
Blakely’s stunning piece, Duel?
Last Thursday, we were introduced to the
brilliant work of Hamish Blakely. Though
Blakely creates many beautiful and complex
images and I recommend checking them all out,
the image we’re about to discuss, Duel, was
the most striking, to me, and I couldn’t wait
to examine it more deeply. So without further
ado!

Flickr proves again
and again to be a source of wonder.
During my Bi-Weekly search for
eye-popping bombshells and gorgeous
pinups I stumbled upon Tiny Titian’s
photostream, which includes a
set devoted to pinups. Mishella
Vendetta is the neo-pinup model and you’ll
love her color shots, where her bright
red-to-pink hair matches her lipstick.

Hamish
Blakely is the brilliant artist who
created this and many other meticulous and
dramatic paintings. I find these paintings
are the graphic
definition of “erotic”, with lighting,
composition and all possible effects that
create an unforgettable scene. Of course
Blakely’s subjects add more diversity to
the pinup hall of fame, which makes me
love his work even more. Pinups of
substance; Check them all out!

In dramatic scene, tough and even evil,
it’s the sexy Easter bunny fantasy gone
awry.
One of the most
common fantasies in cyber space, the
sexy bunny, has endless Google results.
While the typical sexy Easter bunny is
just a poster girl, on the sweet side
and often a Playboy cliche, I’ve run
into a more fetishistic bunny, this
year, which I’m more than glad to share
with you.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is Ryan
McGinley’s latest collection of portraits.
While sex is definitely an issue that’s
evident in McGinley’s work, there are many
human issues that it evokes. Everybody Knows
This Is Nowhere is a beautiful collection
that shows the diversity of young people,
rarely shown in the mainstream channels.

The following news
bit is a
repost from Jon Piek, go to his page for
the full report:
Art
frauds in the Age of the Internet : Legal
ramifications for artists, collectors and the
industry.
In
2007, Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama
obtained a nearly $2-million judgment,
including $1 million in punitive damages,
against Robert S. Bane, his publishing
company, Robert Bane Ltd., and his gallery,
the Tamara Bane Gallery. In 2009, a federal
bankruptcy court refused to allow Bane to
discharge the debt, citing a pattern of
intentional and pervasive fraud perpetrated
against Sorayama. The bankruptcy court also
ruled in 2009 that embezzling exists. The
Chapter 7 process is still ongoing after over
2 years while asset inventory and other
issues are being discovered in the courts'
process including appeals. BREAKING NEWS: On
March 2, 2010, a sale of bankruptcy estate
assets that contain creditor artist
discovered related rights discrepancies and
irregularities took place. As of about March
4, 2010 Artist Sorayama as major creditor
requests court officer(s) to conduct and or
reveal the actual due diligence on this sale
regarding the specific buyer(s) of estate
assets in context of proceedings before
ratification of any sale. The Appeal to the
9th Circuit held oral arguments presented
during February 3, 2010 and will conclude its
rulings/finding in the months ahead. The "
unbonded " Appeal process may examine some of
alleged abuses of the legal process noted
during the Appeal argument and potential
abuses occurring as early as trial, the
months after trial court's rulings/orders and
in particular the extensive legal team that
came on board about the time of the first
post trial judgment exam of debtors' master
image archivist and giclee printer. On /
about 15 January 2010, a three Judge panel of
Bankruptcy Appellate Panel analyzed the facts
concerning trial court and bankruptcy court
rulings against debtor. The trial court
rulings and subsequent bankruptcy court
rulings stand in place under the review and
scrutiny of higher courts' appeal panel.
(citing United States Bankruptcy Appellate
Panel of the 9th Circuit: BAP No.
CC-09-1108-MoPaH). Another Bankruptcy Appeal
by creditor artist Sorayama is pending.
